Seamus O'Neill, ACII
Managing Director
Seamus has worked in insurance across Southern Africa for 50 years. He started in 1975 as an underwriter and inspector with Commercial Union. He became a broker in 1979 and was Branch Manager of CT Bowring in Gweru, Zimbabwe, from 1981 to 1984.
In 1985 he joined AIB Botswana, later Aon, as Branch Manager in Francistown. He then moved to Gaborone as Senior Accounts Executive, where he looked after some of the country's largest accounts for more than two decades. These included Botswana Telecommunications, Air Botswana, the Ministry of Energy's fuel storage depots and many major construction companies.
In 2007 Seamus founded SATIB Africa Botswana together with Safari & Tourism Insurance Brokers (SATIB) in South Africa, a specialist tourism insurance broker. Under his leadership the business has become a trusted adviser to Botswana's tourism industry, from safari lodges and camps to tour operators. It also serves a wide range of large and medium-sized commercial clients.
His expertise covers tourism and tourism liability insurance, construction risks, commercial retail and wholesale broking, aviation hull and liability placements, and medical cover. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
Outside the office, Seamus has chaired Round Table 47 and the Gaborone Cycling Club. He is happiest mountain biking, riding horses or fishing, which gives him a first-hand feel for the outdoor and tourism businesses SATIB protects.
