Lloyd's is the world's leading market for specialist insurance and reinsurance. It began in Edward Lloyd's coffee house in London in 1688 and today brings together more than a hundred syndicates that insure risks in over 200 countries.
Lloyd's is rated A+ (Superior) by AM Best and AA- (Very Strong) by S&P and Fitch. In 2025 the market wrote premiums of 57.9 billion pounds.
Business reaches Lloyd's through approved brokers and coverholders. Our tourism cover is placed with Lloyd's syndicates through TRUM and SATIB Insurance Brokers in South Africa, a Lloyd's coverholder since 1990.
